Is anyone surprised? Anyone? Basically this tag matches a character from the Percy Jackson universe with a prompt and then you (or I guess I) has to match the prompt to a book!
This tag was created by May over at Forever and Everly and I absolutely adore her blog so you should definitely check it out!

Rules
- Thank the person who tagged you and link to their post (I wasn’t tagged lol I’m doing it anyway)
- Link to the original creator May @ Forever and Everly and she also made the gorgeous graphics!
- Match books to the given prompt
- Tag however many people you want

I don’t think anyone will be surprised when I say These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong. That book was just amazing. It made me laugh, it made me scream, it made me cry. Yes I literally screamed and cried. It was just so beautifully written and I love each and every one of the characters. I need the sequel like now. You can read my full review here.

Illuminae by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman. This book. How did I sleep on this one for so long? It is so good. The genius of the authors really comes through so amazingly in this mixed media format especially because you can’t tell who’s good and who’s bad which is like, how real life is so that was awesome. I just finished Gemina (the sequel) and that one was amazing too, but not quite as mind blowing as Illuminae.

For this one I am going to choose a book that I have never heard anyone talk about and that is Things a Bright Girl Can Do by Sally Nicholls. I read this over two years ago but it still lives in my mind rent free. This one is set in London during the time when the Suffragette’s were fighting for women’s votes. It features three incredible, strong, female protagonists and an amazing wlw romance. You all need to read it because it’s SO good.

I love that this is the prompt for Luke! I have plenty of books that go the other way around (I thought I would love them but I didn’t) but not many that follow this one.

I bet most of you can guess what I am going to say for this one. And that is… The Selection! I know that this book is kind of juvenile, really shallow, and basically has no plot but I love it all the same. These books will always feel like home to me and I honestly cannot explain it. The atmosphere is just so cozy and the romance is absolutely adorable, although I will concede that America can be very annoying at times I still love her.

I’ll Give You The Sun has probably the most realistic sibling relationship I have ever read. Jude and Noah go from best friends to hating each other back to friends in like 0.5 seconds flat and there is nothing that represents a sibling relationship more than that. I just love them and I just love this book.

Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare. This was the long anticipated finale to my favorite TSC series and I read it in like 2 days. Despite the size, I spent hours just sitting and reading without realizing how much time was passing. The book is huge, but I tore through it.

Legend by Marie Lu. Everyone talks about this book being so underrated or under hyped, and I know I have too, but these books are not as underrated as you may think. They have hundreds of thousands of ratings and reviews on goodreads and they were New York Times bestsellers. On top of that, basically anyone who has read them ever is obsessed with them and talks about them all the time. So is Legend absolutely amazing? Yes. But is it under hyped? Nope!

The Darkest Minds series by Alexandra Bracken. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I could reread these books over and over for the rest of my life and never get bored. The first time I read them I had such a book hangover that I read them 4 times in a row before I could read something else. Even now when I have a lot of the lines stuck in my memory I always enjoy a good reread of them.

For this one I am going to list my current read The Priory of the Orange Tree. People have been on me to read this for forever. I have mostly put it off because its huge (800+ pages!!!) but I am reading it now! I am so excited because everyone loves this one. It’s sapphic and has dragons and that’s all I know and honestly that’s all I need to know.

Chain of Iron by Cassandra Clare. I NEED to know what happens to my faves! Cordelia, James, Lucie, Matthew, ANNA. I simply must know and I would gladly take about 10 bricks if I could read it now.

Can I just say I love how these prompts fit the characters? OK, for this one I am going to choose Nevernight by Jay Kristoff. I had never heard of this book and probably never would have read it if I hadn’t met some of my best bookstagram friends (@reader_with_read_hair and @hijabi_reader) who finally convinced me. I really liked this book and I can’t wait to read the sequel soon!

Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare. Now, stay with me here. I know this isn’t typically a book someone would pick for comedy, but it is soooo funny. I mean, the main character is the queen of sarcasm herself, Emma Carstairs. Then we have Mark, who is hilarious without meaning to be. Julian, who isn’t usually thought of as funny but he’s been keeping up with Emma his whole life and he is hilarious. Kit, who is a Herondale (do you need any further explanation?). And Cristina, who is very funny in her own right. There are definitely a bunch of moments in this book and this series that had me laughing out loud.

Can I pick Percy Jackson for this one? I’m picking Percy Jackson for this one. I first read Percy Jackson about 8 years ago and I still absolutely adore it.

Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J Maas (to be clear I don’t support SJM in any way and I will not be reading any more of her books, if this is the first time you are hearing of this, do some research on her please!). The last installment of Throne of Glass, this one had me terrified. I was so scared that one or all of my faves were going to die.

Can I pick The Selection again?

The Wise One. I kind of wish I had a physical copy so I could do this. If you don’t know my issues with The Wise One you can read my full review on Goodreads here. But basically this book was horrible. It was so strange and not in a good way. The main character was so immature, the love interest was like 9 years older than her (which was a problem because she is 17), and the only gay characters in it were barely in it, and one cheated on the other (with someone of the opposite gender). So yeah, not my favorite.

Omg there’s so many to choose from! I’m going to have to go with Leah on the Offbeat. This is the sequel to Simon vs the Homo sapiens Agenda and it’s about Simon’s best friend Leah. I won’t spoil who she gets together with, but they are so cute!
